EmberTimer is a free focus tool for chaotic brains, run by Minh Nguyen in the Netherlands. We keep the amount of data we hold to the absolute minimum needed to make the app work across your devices. Contact: support@embertimer.com.
What we store
- Your email address, and your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google.
- Your tasks, habits, brain dump notes, timer history and app preferences.
- Your chosen time zone, so days roll over at your local midnight.
- Any feedback you choose to send us, plus the app version it came from.
Why we can store it
We store this because you asked us to run the app for you (performing our agreement with you), and because we have a legitimate interest in keeping the service working and secure. EmberTimer is free — we make no money from your data.
If you don't sign in
Everything stays in your browser for the session only. Nothing is sent to us, and nothing is kept once you close the browser.
Storage on your device
We use your browser's local storage and a service worker cache so the app works offline and remembers your session. There are no advertising or tracking cookies. The phone app stores the same information on your device.
Who helps us run it
- Lovable Cloud / Supabase — hosting, database and sign-in.
- Google — only if you choose Google sign-in.
- Our email provider — sign-in, password reset and account emails.
These providers may store data inside or outside the EU. Where data leaves the EU, it is covered by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Assistant connections (AI)
You can optionally connect an outside AI assistant to your account. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you set that up yourself, and you can disconnect it at any time.
How long we keep it
Your entries stay until you delete them. Ticked brain dump notes are removed automatically seven days after you tick them. Deleting your account removes everything straight away; backup copies are cleared within 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, or have it deleted — email us and we'll reply within 30 days. If you're in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority (in the Netherlands, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
Age
EmberTimer is for people aged 16 and over.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections and each account can only reach its own rows. No service is perfectly secure; if something goes wrong that affects you, we'll tell you.
Deleting your data
Open Settings → Account. "Delete data" clears your entries, and "Delete my account" permanently removes your account and everything saved to it. Neither can be undone.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
